Ensure the subfloor is clean, sound, dry and free from laitance, cracks, structural defects and conforms to BS 8102: Code of Practice for protection of structures against water from the ground. Subfloors should be tested for residual construction moisture. For readings above 75% RH a suitable Bostik surface membrane must be used.</p><p>2. Any contaminants that may hinder adhesion, such as grease, dust, some curing compounds and adhesive residues must be completely removed.</p><h4>PRIMING</h4><p>3. In all cases the subfloor must be primed prior to application of the smoothing compound as shown in the table below. Gradually add the 16kg bag of Bostik Cempolatex Rapid 30 powder to the water whilst continually mixing with an electric drill and mixing paddle until a smooth lump-free mixture is obtained. This will normally be achieved after 2 minutes and not before. Do not under mix. Use the mixture immediately.</li><li>Based on good ambient conditions of 20oC the product will remain workable for approximately 5-10 minutes after mixing.</li><li>If the mix stiffens before it has been spread, it must be discarded. Do not add further water or liquid.</li></ol><h4>APPLICATION</h4><ol start="4"><li>Pour the mixed material onto the floor. Using a smooth edge steel trowel, smooth over the wet product to gain the desired heights and smooth surface texture.</li><li>Bostik Cempolatex Rapid 30 can be spike-rollered to improve the surface finish if desired. This should be done shortly after application whilst Bostik Cempolatex Rapid 30 is still fluid. Do not spike roller once the product has begun to gel or set as this will create imperfections.</li><li>On large projects, it is advisable to work in teams of 2 to ensure applications to existing wet edges can be maintained.</li><li>If a second application of Bostik Cempolatex Rapid 30 is required, this can be carried out after approximately 45 minutes.
